Types of counselling

Face to face

These sessions are 45mins long and involve discussing what you would with. Counselling is a way of enabling choice or change or of reducing confusion. It does not involve giving advice or directing a client to take a particular course of action.
My sessions are all confidential, non-judgemental and client led. This means you only have to talk about what you are comfortable talking about and there is no pressure to look at particular areas you find too painful. My aim is to give you a space to talk, an opportunity to see your situation from a different point of view and help you to find a way to the outcome you desire.
£55 per session

All face to face clients are entitled to a free 20min telephone consultation before starting their face to face sessions

How to arrange your face to face counselling session
You simply contact us by email and request a face to face session. We will then arrange a time and date suitable for your telephone consultation and the arrange all face to face sessions from there. Face to face session £55 per 45 minute session.

Telephone sessions follow a very similar format to the chat/ online sessions but have the added advantage of instant replies and are very popular with people who aren’t a fan of using technology or just want a more traditional session.

Telephone counselling is also very close in format to a face to face counselling session as speaking directly does allow more interaction.

During the initial telephone call the therapist will take the opportunity to discuss the areas that need to be addressed, to find out some background information about you and to help you get the most out of your session.

Online Video Call Session

This form of counselling is carried out at a pre-arranged time using an Skype or Zoom, allowing clients to receive an instant 'real time' response. Whilst email counselling is hugely beneficial in many ways, the instant feedback obtained from online chat counselling can be comforting for clients who wish to interact and respond with their therapist immediately. Similarly to that of email counselling, online chat counselling is often more accessible and convenient than that of face to face counselling, and it also gives the client the option of remaining anonymous.

At the designated time slot the therapist and client will both log on to a predetermined chat room (which will be secure and confidential), so that they can exchange instant messages for the agreed length of the session. As with all forms of counselling, certain details will need to be confirmed before the online counselling begins. This may be done over the phone, via email or using the instant messenger. Whatever mode of communication the client should ensure they have spoken to their therapist about why they are seeking help, how many sessions they may need, cost, privacy and the cancellation policy.

Confidentiality and online security

Talking to a Skype therapist is very secure. In fact, Skype’s video and chat services use encryption technology, which is one of the most advanced forms of Internet security that is currently widely available. Even if a person managed to intercept a message, it would be in a complex code that they would be unable to decipher.
